Anfim Camaino Replacement Burrs

Postby Annette Schneider on Mon Jan 19, 2009 8:24 am

I need new burrs for our Anfim and I am trying to wrap my head around paying $330.00 for the Titanium burrs that came with the grinder or $77.00 for carbon steel burrs. Does anyone have any thoughts on replacing the burrs with the Titanium or carbon steel? Your help would be much appreciated.

What volume are you grinding with it ? (i.e. ballpark how many pounds per week)

I'm guessing that the $330 burrs are real titanium rather than a titanium alloy? The "duramill" burrs for the Mazzer Super Jolly are usually at most 2X the price of standard burrs. A 3.88X increase for titanium over standard seems high. The claim for the duramill burrs (which - to the best of my knowledge - has not yet been verified in any objective independent testing) is that they last 3X to 6X as long as the standard burrs. If the Anfim burrs are real titanium and offer a minimum of 5X t0 6X the lifespan then it makes sense.

Here in the states these grinders cost you more than double what Europe is paying. I've seen these replacement blades(Titanium) in England for under 100 pounds (not even $150.00)with VAT.
I'm guessing you could express mail two sets for what it costs you to get one over here

I would call Brian at espressoparts and request the Barista Exchage or BGA discount on these burrs.

You may also want to contact 49th 49th Parallel, as they are importers of Anfim.
