Odd water taste from Hot Water Dispenser

Postby Ed Whitman on Fri Sep 14, 2012 8:53 pm

I just installed a new 2 gallon hot water dispenser hooked up to a water filter system. The water has distinct smell and taste, slightly plastic or artificially sweetened water. Machine runs fine and water tastes fine cold.
I have been draining it, but the odd flavor still persists. Is there a 'seasoning' period?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I have seen this with hot water towers from various ppl. It usually has to do with hot water running from the boiler to the dispensing spout through that plastic tubing stuff inside the machine... after a while it will go away, or you can open it up and soak the tubing in hot/warm water for awhile. I don't know why they still use that material with hot water... its prob because its rated above the water temp of the boiler.....
