The SCAA Sustainability Committee (2009) has updated their Sustainable Coffee Certification Comparison matrix, with information provided by the following organizations:

* Organic
* Fair Trade
* Rainforest Alliance
* Smithsonian Bird Friendly®
* Utz Certified
* 4C

Thanks! I would love handing this to the handful of customers who are hardcore "i only by fair trade" etc... minded.
8 pages of basics so many people, especially consumers, know so little about.

Oxfam's producer guide to certifications

Agreed - a welcome and overdue resource!

I wanted to share here another resource that can be helpful at origin - Oxfam America's "Certificaciones de café - Versión Popular" (only en español). Oxfam sponsored some academic study of certification impacts at origin a number of years ago whose results were never published. This helpful document, however, was one of the unexpected outcomes/pleasant surprises of the process.

I don't have permission to distribute the document, but here is the image of the cover if anyone wants to get copies from Oxfam America.
