Protest "Bad" Coffee

So the G20 summit will be happening just a few blocks from our business next week. We plan on remaining open as we think it will be good for business, as we indicate on our blog.

I believe that the kind of business we run is something G20 supporters and protesters alike can get behind, so I wanted to post some information in our store to educate/enlighten customers on our end of the specialty coffee spectrum.

The reason for my post is I'm looking for recent/relevant articles that support what "we" as specialty coffee folks do. Why we happily pay more for better quality, why we strive to pay baristas well and create real career opportunities, why our approach is better for the planet, etc. I realize there are probably many such articles already posted here, and I will search through them... but was hoping for some recommendations from the knowledgable folks here.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck, Luke.

Just hope you don't suffer what Third Rail did! 8)

Obama was next door getting breakfast at a local diner last year, during the primary. He walked by our door... but didn't come in. Some Secret Service dudes came in and asked if they could use our restroom, and one of them smiled at me when I told them "sure... no problem, with a purchase". They bought some bottled water and used our restroom. It didn't really offset the fact that they more or less shut the whole block down for about 3 hours for photo ops. McCain's "Straight Talk Express" jammed up the local favorite sandwich shop a few blocks the other way. I guess I learned that a triple-ristretto espresso in a dainty little cup wasn't going to look "American" enough to get us the big fish.

So the local news came by yesterday and interviewed me- but they only showed the last bit of what I said... when I looked most like the hardass I'm really not.

If we were "scared" of the public, we certainly wouldn't have gone into this business! We say welcome... Protesters, Anarchists, Anti-Christs, Police, Prime Ministers, whatever just behave and buy a coffee please. Then you can use our bathrooms and WiFi 8)

But the best press of all, this week, was being "Sprudged". 21st = stunned/honored
