People certainly obsess about their coffee, but not always in a good way ....

Here is one Canadian grad student's contribution to the genre: http://puttingweirdthingsincoffee.com/about/.

Thanks to one of our customers, Volta is currently exhibiting an amazing collection of coffee cans dating back to the 1930s.

We found a can for Golden Harvest coffee with Vitranide; I'm guessing it's from the 1970s (or whenever the last time a retail pound of coffee was $1.29). Vitranide, in case you were wondering, is "a natural healthful combination of dehydrated greens, parsley, watercress, alfalfa, mustard, and yeast."

Ish. It doesn't get much stranger than Vitranide. Except, perhaps, for the North Woods Egg Coffee, with freeze dried scrambled egg premixed with the ground coffee in the can, for that authentic Northern Midwest tradition of egg coffee.
