Search feature missing

Postby Alistair Durie on Wed Jun 18, 2008 10:41 pm

Since upgrading to Firefox 3 the search bar on the main page has disappeared. Maybe it has been missing for a while - I just noticed it. I need to fix some css code. It can be seen within each topic but not on the main page.

For searching in the meantime you can go here: http://coffeed.com/search.php

I find googles search feature is good for forums. Use the syntax/command "site:" e.g.

site:coffeed.com

,you leave out the www but, It will then only search within that domain. This also shows a few sentences from the post in google. It also allows other google search features, such as using + or - to include/exclude words. and you can add quotes so words must appear in that exact order. e.g.
"coffee grinds" will offer far less hits than simply
coffee grinds

Entering the latter will result in all pages with those 2 words appearing anywhere on the page.

This search works well for some sites, others are not up to date on googles cache database, so recent posts might not appear. I tested some searches here and they did not get any hits, still better than nothing though.

I use Opera and it's been missing from the front page for a long while. I just thought it was a (bad) design decision with the updated site.
