For a "swankish" dinner: Le Pigeon or Park Kitchen period

and if you're looking for lunch, go no further than Por Que No on Mississippi (I am biased as they are just down the street, but damn it's good)

Amnesia, Horsebrass, or Moon and Sixpence for beers. And seeing as how it is suppost to be 77 on Friday, I suggest Amnesia, as it's got a huge streetside outdoor seating area. (That, and there's a super-secret Beastie Boys concert going on next door!!!)

Pastry wise, you need to go to Fleur De Lis in the Hollywood district. Some of the best pastry I have ever had.

Also, don't forget about the Northwest CoffeeHouse. They are on 19ish and W. Burnside, they're rockin' the HB and a Synesso.

Also don't forget Coffee Plant.

por que no is great. we are most likely having them cater our wedding! Another great place that is well priced and often not thought of, is the Slow Bar on grand ave. dare I say "best burger in portland"?

le pigeon for sure. lovely hula hands is also fantastic.

for stumptown and coffee people sightings, aalto lounge, holocene and acme on a friday evening.

hangover breakfast at fullers on NW 9th & Davis is a portland out of towner classic.

Brett, you don't have to pull one over on your wife re getting a substantial lunch at Crema -- they have damn good paninis (veggie and meat) as well as cold sandwiches (their tuna salad is the bomb) and homemade soups. Or get a cheddar corn biscuit, which basically involves an obsene amount of butter and is therefore a wonderful, heavenly thing.

I took my parents to Crema for lunch when they were in town a while back and now they insist on having lunch there every time they visit.

All good suggestions from my fellow Portlanders. Don't let the Pix suggestion get lost -- it's for sure worth a visit for their amazing desserts. There's one on Hawthorne, but I prefer the one on Division. You can get yummy beers there, as well, and they're open late. I think there's one in NoPo, too. On Belmont is the new Saint Cupcake.

Highly recommend Pok Pok if you're just cruising around SE.

Good weekend for a visit -- it's supposed to be up to 75 degrees today and tomorrow!

We're on our way back this Fri - Sun, reprising last year's visit, this time with baby in tow. Beware other Ace residents!

Looks like rain and cold all weekend. Any ideas on where we can get our stroll and spro on while staying dry? Oh man, just when my plans might have me trapped in the Ace for hours with nowhere to go... They're really gone aren't they? You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!

Boy, if it's rainy all weekend, we'll have to warm up with coffee. Think the wife will buy that one? Who all has the new hotness? Albina2 of course. Actually, I'll go to whichever Albina has Josh on bar this weekend. Where else should we go for the spro?

How about food? I don't think we can hit lovely hula hands this year as a family, but I don't want to be hanging at chuck e cheese either. Who has the good eats where the occasional fussing won't cause a riot? I'm hoping that Por Que No will still take us.

Does P-town do brunch? Or is it all about the bakeries? Talk to me party people.

I'd love to hook up and/or talk shop. We'll be locked down at the Ace starting around 9 for the boy's bedtime if anyone wants to stop by the hotel shop or bar to chat.

you really should try to get into lovely hula hands for dinner. one of the best meals i've had this year, along with toro bravo. both in nopo.

and if you're looking for brunch try the screen door on burnside. might be a bit of a wait, but pretty damn good every time i've been there.

while i would definitely recommend albina2, you should check out extracto, if you haven't already. they are settin' up to roast real soon and in the mean time have been showcasing other roasters from around the states. good stuff.

You could hit up Apizza Scholls on the super early side right after an afternoon visit to Albina2. Great pie and kid friendly. Broder's on Clinton is a great brunch spot too, and I've never had a problem with the kid in tow. Pine State Biscuits on Belmont, just up from the Stumptown Café is a really tight space, but good for grabbing a Reggie Deluxe to go (biscuit, fried chicken, bacon, cheese, egg and gravy) and walking over to Laurelhurst park if it's a nice day. Pok-Pok has always worked well for me, even if I did have to take a break and walk the kid around outside for a few minutes. I've been to Lovely Hula Hands with the kid and it wasn't a miserable experience, but definitely a little stressful.
