Food in Seattle

Postby xristrettox on Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:37 pm

The Mrs., Lola and I will be heading to Seattle Thursday for the NWRBC, and I'm not quite up on my restaurants of choice. Any idea on where a couple of foodies can get their fix? Thanks!

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like Seattle's biggest thing lately is dessert. I've been crushing on Curio Confections in my hood a lot lately.

cupcakes
* royale
* trophy
ice cream
* molly moon
* old school custard
* bluebird

As for restaurants...
I've heard Poppy is awesome re-imagined Indian (pix look good)
For a taste of Portland, consider Oddfellows.
Agreed on Oaxaca. If the line's too long or it's closed, definitely hit Senor Moose a few blocks away. Actually, just do Senor Moose.

When you're out getting your drink on, do hit up a Dantes Inferno Dogs or if you're in ballard, hit up Snacks Bodega. Ask for the "chilly" dog.

If you're drinking in capitol hill, Dick's is the classic snack, but I've been meaning to hit up the chicken+waffle at Captain Blacks.

I always enjoy that goofy crepe place that's like outside.

And if you need to throw a party, Gameworks.

(coming back here is like a weird variation on "Groundhog Day")

Goofy is a good way to describe eating downtown- upscale seafood places for tourists, mediocre cheap eats for office workers, and little in between.

Reminds me... check out MOD pizza. It's a new concept by some former coffee execs.

For better crepes, hit up 611 supreme a few blocks up the hill on Pine (611 pine to be exact).

I like the lunch counter at Palomino, but it's not a seattle-only thing.

If you're up Pike to visit Victrola, there's always the tots and misc sandwiches at 6 arms (part of the mcmenamins empire) to snack on.

My two favorite spots to take the wife to dinner in Seattle were:

http://www.dinetteseattle.com/

In Capitol Hill close to the convention. Wonderful small space. Simple menu, great wine.

http://www.carmelita.net/

Vegetarian option. A must stop!

I hope you have a chance to check out one of these places. They are both really great.

I'll be in town for Coffee Fest. Hope to see everyone there!
