Shopping Carts: Custom or Off the Rack

Postby David Myers on Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:01 pm

For those of you who sell and ship coffee, I'm wondering what type of shopping cart you're using, i.e. custom coded cart from scratch, off the rack cart software integrated into your website, Shopify, Google Checkout or other. Any thoughts on using monthly fee for service providers such as Shopify vs. paying $1k's up front to have something custom built?

I would highly recommend Shopify or similar specialized store platform.

I highly recommend Shopify as well. Easy to modify and install 3rd party widgets in areas where the stand-alone program falls short. We used a wordpress shopping cart previously and it was rather bulky and difficult to modify and generate reports.
