Wow, Joe, keeping busy, the only judge to be at both Rwanda and Colombia this season. Don't let Kentaro find out.

I gave the CoE La Esperanza from a few years ago 97 pts twice. One of my favorite coffee experiences ever. It aged quite a bit by the time it arrived at the States. But, that is less of a concern now!

Cafe Imports prevented an N.American shut out.

Economy? Flavor profile? Any guesses...

I was outbid. i turned away for a few, was outbid, and the auction closed. oh well. Perhaps one factor is all the great coffees people are already getting, small lots, vac packed, etc. Maybe COE seems redundant. I don't know ... I thought the lots were good although I feel I have better ones coming by my own means (I cupped them alongside the CoEs) . It's far from being the case, but it is interesting to posit the day when CoE has affected the broader market in an origin to the point that the coffees offered in a CoE are not that compelling. Guat Colo and Costa might be cases in point.

Hey, what happened to you? Bolivia? Peru?

Made it to Peru on schedule and had a great visit but the cascading shitstorm of missed connections on a two-bit american airline kept me from Bolivia (3rd time, different story...) "Gee sir, we can probably get you in by Wed. morning if that works..."

There seemed to be no shortage of bidders for Colombia, the resulting average was very solid and I expect the CoE folks are quite pleased with the prices.

Tom- what was your take on the Peru comp?

The coffees were better than expected. The top 3 or so were really good ... but Peru is just all snarled in coop politics and such. They just don't seem that motivated to work in a new way when it comes to coffee. It's all about boxes Tim, boxes!
