FB80/GB5 3 group bug

I am not sure if this is an intentional feature or not - if it is then it seems a little foolish, and prone to problems - but a friend discovered that if you press the free flow and large 2 cup button on the left hand group of a three group FB80 it immediately switches the machine off immediately.

I've seen this happen many times in barista competitions but no one has understood why the machine has gone off, because usually you'd push and hold off for 3-5 seconds - and no one has seen the barista do that.

Does this happen on other machines? Other 2 groups? Did people already know about this?

This happens on the Mistral as well... I always thought it was design (although I should have known better given the other odd quirks with that software).

If I am not mistaken this is by design, and allows you into the programming, I think it may be technician level (I don't have a manual handy).

why are they using AV machines in competiton anyway? I would assume you were using the EE model like we do here in the states.

I guess just another reason semi-autos are better.

I already checked last week with Enrico of La Marzocco in Italy and he confirmed that this is a software bug. Thank you very much for the observation. LM is already working on a new bug-free software version.

And yes, it also happens on the 2-group, in case no-one told you yet, James. Tried it on both a GB5 and a Mistral last evening.
