Elysian Coffee, Open House - Tuesday June 5

Postby Alistair Durie on Fri Jun 01, 2007 7:46 pm

We've been meaning to have a Party since we moved into our new offices in January and we're finally getting around to it upon the arrival of a UK posse. A casual affair, all are welcome... great coffee, great wine, great sausage...

What is "the labs" exactly? Is this in your current building?

Elysian Coffee opened up a corporate office and training facility/lab in late December last year. It's a 1000 sq foot space with offices, a lounge (incl big screen LCD), a workroom, and a fully equipped coffee training bar/cupping room w/ a 3 group Synesso, a Clover, and all the grinders you could dream to see. The bar doubles as a showroom and features a nice big cupping table smack in the middle.

The best thing is that it is 3 blocks away from the cafe!

BTW. I'm bringing three "special" coffees for the Clover. I was hoping to have a fourth, but I'm not getting the green until mid-week. Pls make some time and brew cups available!

Oh, and I'm bringing something extra special for the sausage and drinks time too...

A lounge???

I hope there's more than coffee behind that bar...

Looks like I'm looking forward to my next visit to Vancouver.

Last minute call to Seatown-ites...

OK - it's late and the odds are against me... If I get (3) other (passport-carrying, mind you) Seatown-ers to fill the other spots in my Civic, we'll have a sufficient posse and I will gladly drive and pay for the gas to/from this fine event.

PM me if you are "in".

Cheers,
Brett

Check that. 4 special coffees. The postman brought #4 today, freshly roasted by a devilishly handsome man a few days ago.

Woke up at 2.30 am this morning, as apparently my body clock is a stubborn fucker.

Just to say quickly, that I'm really looking forward to tonight, it will be great to catch up with everyone and eat and drink very well at the same time.

It is however annoying that its raining here in Vancouver, can no one sort that out?

I could think of no better introduction to the NorthWest. It's raining here in Seattle, too.

Welcome.

was a great time, thank you all for coming.

- i am sure that coffee folks can party
- i can verify that mark makes a great martini
- the Canadians easily outlasted the Irish by 7 to 1
- Herb Brodsky is real !!
- not so sure how to explain the smell of Pig in our training lab
- if anyone should ask, this was purely a "business event"
- cheese is great, long live cheese

thanks to our suppliers: Oyama Sausage Co, Les Amis du Fromage, Chris Brown (Rise Baking), & Lee's Doughnuts.

and i'm just really happy that i haven't seen any photo evidence of me carrying around the Ham like a guitar, making sure everyone stroked it.

I'm crushed today. Meinhard's is not bringing in those olives any longer :( :( :( :( I'm out. I may need to order a case direct from the manufacturer!

The ham was something that had to be seen.... Ham in the Van, for sure.

Judging by the shape of the ham, I don't want to know what end you were asking people to stroke...

I will be gutted if pictures of the stroking don't emerge.

You are incorrect sir when you say 7 to 1. I left at 1.30am when there was only four others left, all of which were in a sorry state. Call me weak for having dignity.

Lets see who lasts tonight.

I lasted longer than you, but that's only because bloody Impark imprisoned my car - I can't get it till tomorrow morning - so I went back inside for a nightcap. ;)
