Seattle 04/03/08 noonish 'til 04/04/08 morning (when's the best time to drive south on I-5 in the AM?).

Portland 04/04/08 afternoon until 04/05/08 noonish. Passing through SEA again before heading back to Vancouver at night...

We're on our way back this Fri - Sun, reprising last year's visit, this time with baby in tow. Beware other Ace residents!

Looks like rain and cold all weekend. Any ideas on where we can get our stroll and spro on while staying dry? Oh man, just when my plans might have me trapped in the Ace for hours with nowhere to go... They're really gone aren't they? You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!

Boy, if it's rainy all weekend, we'll have to warm up with coffee. Think the wife will buy that one? Who all has the new hotness? Albina2 of course. Actually, I'll go to whichever Albina has Josh on bar this weekend. Where else should we go for the spro?

How about food? I don't think we can hit lovely hula hands this year as a family, but I don't want to be hanging at chuck e cheese either. Who has the good eats where the occasional fussing won't cause a riot? I'm hoping that Por Que No will still take us.

Does P-town do brunch? Or is it all about the bakeries? Talk to me party people.

I'd love to hook up and/or talk shop. We'll be locked down at the Ace starting around 9 for the boy's bedtime if anyone wants to stop by the hotel shop or bar to chat.

If you go to Albina Press, be sure to visit The Meadow, 3731 North Mississippi Avenue. Salts, chocolates and more. I order salts from them but forgot to stop by during my last visit to Portland.

And the delicatessen near to the Ace is pretty decent.

Oh, and dinner at Pigeon is supposed to be most excellent.

I'm going to be at a technical clinic in South WA Mon-Thurs next week and am hoping to make it to Portland to soak up as much fun as I can in one night (before driving back to my hotel in Kelso).

Who has the new evening drink-on/snack-on hotness? The where-the-wild-uns-are part of the usbc site isn't up yet, so I need the latest tips.

Any coffeed'ers want to meet up? First round's on me.

I think I'm going to be relying on Lava Java for daily coffee during the clinic, so if you're aware of good coffee closer to Kelso, holler at me.

Cellar Door coffee roasters is on 11th and Harrison below ladds edition in se. they roast thier own coffee too.
Half and Half Cafe is right across from ace hotel and Powells books, they serve courier coffee too.

A big thanks to my fine Ridgefield and Portland area hosts. As always, you were endlessly accommodating and a delight to hang with. For the folks I caught briefly like Kristina or those I missed, I'll catch you yet...soon...

Billy- it seems like I was unintentionally coffee stalking you, regardless, your vision for coffee is inspiring to hear. I'm looking forward to seeing it in completed form soon.

Ben- it's always fun to get a construction industry/coffee geek perspective I can relate to, though your home spro setup is unquestionably out of my league. Next time the lowbrow lowdown meal is on me and we'll have more than a chugged pint at redfox. Good luck on the adding that 2nd story.

Phuong and Cam- what can I say -- you're fantastic coffee people, gracious hosts, entertaining conversationalists. The Lava Java and the work you do there continues to delight. I'm not alone in looking forward to your upcoming projects. I only wish you were farther North on i-5.

I think it's actually possible the visit above was my last to Portland before today. Sheesh.

It goes without saying these folks still have game.

I'm curious to poke my nose in at all the new shops since 2009 tomorrow morning before I enter a windowless room of meetings all day. After seeing Lava Java, Albina Press #1, and Barista #2 today, the folks below are still on my hit list for this tour.
