Any experience with the HeyCafe HC 880?

Postby Henry Buchtel on Mon Mar 23, 2009 3:50 am

Hello All,

I'd like to know if anybody has used or heard about the HC 880 bulk grinder made by HeyCafe?

Here are the specifications (copied from here)

* Grindstones diameter: 80 mm (flat type)
* Bean Hopper capacity: 1.2 Kg
* Grinding capacity: 16-19 Kg/hour
* Electric Power: 750 watt

The manufacturer has told me it is equivalent to the Bunn G3. In mainland China the only other non-imported option for bulk grinders is the "Big Flying Horse" at about 1/3 the price.

It will be used for filling orders for 250g bags of ground coffee, probably 10-15kg per session at most.

Thanks, Henry

Or maybe any comments on the suitability of the Bunn G3 for the above usage?

None with that one, but the other "cafe grinder" looks like one I had to play with whilst fixing something at a restaurant.

It was a Mazzer knock off, and a bad one at that.

That's my opinion in any case...

They should work on the name.

Ah, well any news is good news ;)

btw, Brent, are you sure that the espresso grinder you saw was made by HeyCafe? Paul Pratt bundles them with the LMs that he sells, and I've been using one for about 6 months now... no quality or grind issues so far.

No, which is why I said it looked like a knockoff that I have used here in NZ.
