fluke thermometers

Does anyone have any advice on purchasing one? Canadian suppliers? which models?

I would be using it on the Scace, for testing drip brew parameters, and for the probe on our old Barth once it is restored.

Are there any other questions I need to answer before deciding on a model?

Nick has it - way cheap on ebay. There are a couple suppliers on there who specialize in used equipment of this type, and have excellent ratings. I think I paid about $30 or $35 for mine a few years ago (without the thermocouple wire, but that was inexpensive from another supplier.)

Most of my expereince with Digital Thermometers has been with Fluke and they have all been good experiences. For testing brewing parameters I would recommend data-logging capabilities (will allow you to test consistency in water tempertature delivery and determine upper and lower values without having to do the work yourself). I would also recommend dual input, Fluke allows you to have T1, T2 display to see both values in real time, you may find yourself quickly needing that second input.

I wasn't impressed with Omega, maybe I purchased the wrong unit.

I went with a 51-2 Single Input on Ebay. I won't say I got a good deal until it's in my hands, calibrated, and working, but the price was reasonable and the seller seemed very legit.
